LAWSON LEWIS BLAKERS TO MERGE WITH MAYO WYNNE BAXTER

We are pleased to announce that on 1st April 2023 this firm will be merging with Sussex law firm Mayo Wynne Baxter.

The impending retirement of longstanding partner, Jeremy Sogno, has caused the Directors to plan for the future in such a way so as to maintain the heritage of Lawson Lewis Blakers and secure the firm’s long-term future. Our priority has always been about looking after our clients and our staff, to the very best of our ability, and this merger means that we will continue to be able to do so.

The merger will provide continuity for our clients and access to a wider range of services that being part of Mayo Wynne Baxter will allow. The merger will also provide enhanced career opportunities for our staff.

Existing partners, Nadine Ashford and Nicola Davies, will become partners in Mayo Wynne Baxter whilst Jeremy will remain as a consultant for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition for our clients and staff alike. There are no planned redundancies and all our staff will move to Mayo Wynne Baxter. Our offices at Hyde Gardens in Eastbourne will close and our office in Peacehaven will remain open to serve our clients as it does currently.

Lawson Lewis originated in 1835 and was, for many years, run by Jeremy’s father and grandfather. The firm has long been well respected and considered to have a “family” feel with many members of staff having served in excess of 15 years and some as long as 36 years!

Jeremy comments “We were looking for a larger organisation that shared our values and could offer greater growth opportunities for our talented and ambitious team, as well as providing additional services and expertise to our valued clients; Mayo Wynne Baxter more than fits these criteria, and we are excited about joining forces and continuing our legacy within the local area.”
